Cherise Clarke is a Vancouver-based visual artist and performer. She has been closely involved with Gallery Gachet since 2005 as Collective Member, Curator, and currently Associate Member, co-curating and co-facilitating the Gallery’s first World Mad Pride Festival in 2006. Having exhibited in and curated various group shows, Cherise’s first solo show of drawing and mixed media took place in 2009 at Gachet: You Draw Like a Girl, a series of illustrations strung along intersecting golden clotheslines. She is currently at work on a series of large-format oil paintings addressing ecology and myth. She trained formally in theatre at UBC and in addition to visual art, practices professionally as a stage actor with such Vancouver companies as Arts Club, Felix Culpa, Neworld and Blackbird Theatre.
