Lara has over 16 years experience working in film/TV, video and arts based programming both in Canada and the UK. Graduating from the University of East Anglia with a BA (Hons) in English Literature and Film Studies, she worked in London, UK on arts programming for television and film companies, including credits on documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4. She relocated to Vancouver a decade ago to work for CBC Television on the acclaimed arts series, ZeD; she worked on the series for more than 3 years as the Live Acts Producer on over 300 music, dance, theatre, performance art and spoken word video performances. She has directed a documentary series for Global TV, story produced a lifestyle series for W Network, directed a documentary on addiction, produced news story segments for an online news network, and taught a documentary film class at the Art Institute. Lara is deeply embedded in the arts community, having been a Board Member at grunt gallery for 3 years, and is actively engaged in her own multi-disciplinary visual arts practice. In the role of Programming Director at Gallery Gachet for 4 years, she co-ordinated over 50 exhibitions and events, building strong community partnerships while contributing to the arts community within the Downtown Eastside – a place she feels a complete affinity with and unshakable passion for. She is delighted to remain a committed part Gallery Gachet as an artist and Associate Member.
