is a multi-disciplinary artist and facilitator hailing from Australia with a long history of engagement with the arts, spanning theatre, music, visual art, activism, curatorial & text based practices.
Trained as a performer
(BA Hons) with a second major in psychology, she spent many years working in all aspects of the theatre before transitioning into the visual arts as the curator and creator of a contemporary art and retail space in regional Queensland.
Carmen completed additional training (Adv Dip) in Art Therapy in 2012, fuelled by the feeling in her bones that all forms of engagement in artistic practices are inherently therapeutic, and cementing her commitment to advocacy for art and artists as a crucial part of any healthy society.
Since arriving in Vancouver (from Melbourne) she has published her first work of short fiction, exhibited at Hot Art Wet City’s annual low brow spectacular Boobies & Wieners and facilitated workshops for My Mother’s Story, environmental art walks in Deer lake Park and the odd spot of Leaf Bombing…
