October 15, 2008
Deadline for submissions: October 15, 2008 We accept proposals for solo, group, juried, and curated exhibits at W2, our new home at Woodwards, opening in September 2009. We accept proposals for major exhibition projects, screenings, workshops, performances and collaborations. We pay CARFAC artist fees, and provide support for openings, catering, marketing, mailings, A/V equipment, etc. We feature local, national, and international artists in our main gallery and will have a smaller, more intimate space for artist?s first exhibitions, work in-progress, or community arts projects. Include in your package: ? at least 10 supporting images (slides or digital) per artist ? artwork list including title, medium, dimensions and year ? artist?s CV for each participant (exhibition history) ? written proposal stating a well-thought-out theme for the show (250-500 words) Gallery Gachet supports artists marginalized by their mental health, trauma and/or abuse experience, by working for social, cultural and economic justice. Our programming features a range of art practice, from contemporary to outsider, and a range of mediums, from photography, video, performance art, painting, drawing, 3D, installation, ceramics, textile, and more. We welcome proposals which challenge mental health stigma, as well as other barriers to full social, cultural, and economic participation. We actively look to create and maintain collaborations within the mental health and cultural sectors, as well as our DTES neighbourhood. Exhibitions may thematically coincide with other events and festivals. Proposals will be looked at more favourably if associated with artist talk or other complimentary programming.
